Character: Vicious
Canon: Tales of Crestoria
Canon point: After chapter 8 (and all of the After Episodes)
OU or AU?: OU
Age: Vicious doesn't have a canon age listed; according to official sources he appears to be 22, but there's no confirmation that it's his actual age; he's confirmed to be at least twenty, however. Mentally, he acts like a young adult in that general age range.
Species: Vicious is the Great Transgressor, which is both a title and what he is. Vicious is very obviously not human given his true appearance, but over time he's created a human guise for himself. The exact nature of the Great Transgressor is not currently known (though this is not known by Vicious either), but his design obviously takes some cues from demons and his power is comparable to that of the goddess Kasque.

Disposition:
From a young age, Vicious has always been recognized as the Great Transgressor and hated because of it. It was because of his overwhelming power - power he couldn't control, and power that killed plenty of people. Vicious learned that people wanted him dead and he decided he wouldn't allow himself to die.
That's the core belief behind everything Vicious does - he does what he wants to do, and he doesn't care about anyone else's opinions. He enjoys drinking and fighting and plays rough even with the people he's befriended, but he also greatly values their personal choices as well. Vicious is willing to help people who want to help themselves - but it's always his own choice, and usually he goes along with it because he finds it interesting. He respects everyone else's choices as well, but he will fight if their choices clash with his own.
While he revels in being a villain and being hated by everyone, Vicious has complicated feelings when it comes to being alone. Now that he's had the opportunity to befriend the party, he doesn't want to be hated and he wants to be accepted by his friends. He finds admitting this to be difficult, so he doesn't discuss it, but learning this about himself was key to getting his power under control. Being true to himself is something Vicious values highly, even if he doesn't look within very often.
Until recently, Vicious was afraid of his power - he couldn't control it and didn't want to kill indiscriminately again. He's since managed to get his power under control and can use his other form at will.
Vicious acts on instinct and he rarely lets anyone in on his plans before he enacts them. "Plans" might be an exaggeration, because sometimes he's making things up as he goes. While he's usually able to get himself (and everyone else) out of trouble, this is mostly because the party has gotten very good at dealing with Vicious's stupidity. We don't pay Vicious to think, and for good reason. He's not a total idiot, but he's not someone who strategizes and solves his problems by fighting them.
Vicious is laid-back and relaxed; he's not the sort to lose his temper often. He enjoys fighting and he's just as enthusiastic about drinking. He enjoys the party's shenanigans as well, and considering he contributes to them (intentionally or otherwise) that's no surprise. He does like the others and being treated as part of the gang.
Vicious has ideals he's unwilling to budge on - those who use others piss him off, and those who claim to be righteous in their villainy even more so. He dislikes hypocrites and those who won't act or expect others to act for them, and he isn't opposed to arguing with them or killing them if he can. Arguments like this are the only time he truly gets angry. He won't budge on these ideals and nothing is going to get him to change his mind.
While he doesn't care much about other people, Vicious does know how to lay low and avoid causing a scene. Vicious is capable of sitting down and ultimately doesn't enjoy murder as much as he leans into with his reputation. He has some complicated feelings about all the people he's killed - he doesn't attempt to atone or find forgiveness for his actions because this is how he's bearing his sins - he's honest about what he's done and understands the weight of it, even if he does play it off in conversation.
Before Kanata decided to change the world and Vicious chose to go along with this, his plan was to find like-minded individuals and lash out at the rest of the world, destroying what they could. He was unsuccessful in this endeavor, but Vicious bounces back from defeat easily. He does still hate the world that wanted him dead from the start, but he's learning to be a better and kinder person with the party's influence, even if he's not fully aware of that yet.
Ultimately, Vicious is acting on instinct and out of self-preservation and spite. He's learned a lot and come a long way, but there's still plenty of room to grow. He likes people as a whole more now, and he's no longer simply reacting. Best of all, he's finally found a spark of hope for a better future, and it's one he wants to kindle into a flame.
Suitability:
Vicious comes from a world where he is hated and wanted dead on sight for his numerous crimes, and this has left him hateful and distrustful of most people. Being thrown into an entirely different world with new challenges will give him a lot to consider about himself and the world around him - so his struggles will mostly be with finding his place in Noctium as opposed to simply falling back on being the Great Transgressor. The transformations will be a bit startling for him, but certainly nothing all that worrying because he's already got one monstrous form, a second temporary one certainly won't prove to be too much of a problem. He's going to have more of a problem with Synchrony, because he's not exactly accustomed to friends in general, let alone physical affection. It's going to be a lot of new challenges he's never expected to face before, so that should be interesting.
It's also worth noting that while Vicious leans into being the Great Transgressor and will play up his title, he does behave himself and isn't running around going on killing sprees or anything. He knows how to behave around other people and will sit down, so he's not going to be causing nearly as many problems in a world that doesn't hate him.
Condition upon arrival:
Thankfully for everyone, Vicious is coming in at a pretty good point; he and his friends just got done learning to control their Blood Sins and are back on the road. While he won't exactly be happy to be dragged into a whole other world and poked and prodded by scientists, he won't protest too much unless they start getting a little too interested in what exactly he is. With that said, Vicious is in great health - no illness or injuries here!
Abilities:
Vicious is an exceptionally strong individual capable of using his Blood Sin to manifest twin pistols to fight. He can use artes (essentially powerful physical attacks) and his Mystic Arte (a super-powered version of an arte) to deal a lot of damage to enemies; his fighting style is flashy and showy, he's very flexible given how often he's flipping around in combat.
His true form is something much more monstrous and one that until recently, he couldn't control at all. Vicious can (and usually does) keep it sealed, only bringing it out when he feels he has no other options left. The Great Transgressor form wields a scythe formed from his Blood Sin instead, but he also relies heavily on hard-hitting physical attacks in this form. More importantly, the Great Transgressor form is capable of leeching life from people in his general vicinity - if he's not careful, he can leech the life from everyone entirely, manifesting as dark flames that quite literally burn life (and therefore people) away. He can control this form now so this shouldn't be a concern, but I'm perfectly fine nerfing this portion of his powers entirely if that works best. (Or having it drain Manna instead, should he lose control of it.)
Notably, Vicious has also been stabbed in the heart in human form and recovered just fine, so he's capable of taking a deadly attack as long as he has time to heal from it afterwards. He can't repeatedly take hits like this and survive - at the end of the day, the Great Transgressor can be killed, regardless of what form he's in.
Vicious also has the ability to unlock a person's Blood Sin, but that requires canon-specific things to occur (being branded as a transgressor and manifesting a Stain of Guilt as a result) so that won't apply here.
In human form, Vicious was able to fight the goddess Kasque on his own and remain standing for quite some time - he's remarkably durable and will keep getting back up to continue fighting for as long as he can. This goes a bit beyond human limitations in this form, but when he's in his Great Transgressor form, he's able to not only keep up with the goddess, but to completely surpass her. This is most likely because she'd just woken up and wasn't ready to fight at full power, but Vicious is exceptionally strong in this form. He gains power from leeching the life from people nearby (which is part of why he was so strong during that battle), but even without doing that he's still a force to be reckoned with.
With that said, Vicious prefers to stick to human form and will only take the Great Transgressor form if he feels he has no other choice, especially in a world that doesn't already know about it.
